The St. Andrews Society of Oakland 2019 Burns Supper, celebrating the life and works of Scotland’s Bard – Robert Burns (1759 – 1796).
Once again this fun evening will be held at the Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton. The date is February 22, 2019. No host Bar starting at 6:00pm, with dinner and toasts beginning at 7:00pm.
We can promise fine food, friends and lots of toasts, Oh, and don’t forget your dancing shoes.
Tickets are only $57.00 each, with a $5.00 discount for members in good standing.
This is a fun filled evening of Scottish Culture, Music and Dance! The ticket price includes a three-course dinner including cock-a-leekie soup; choice of herb roasted chicken breast, haggis neeps and tatties or vegetarian/gluten free risotto; followed by apple crumble a la mode. You will be entertained by the talented members and friends of the Society as they toast the Queen, The President, Absent Friends, the Lasses, and anything else that they can think of. A highlight will, of course be the Immortal memory of Robert Burns. After all the food and toasts, join us for some ceilidh dancing! Even if you are a novice, we will soon having you joining in to a “Dashing White Sergeant” or Strip the Willow”. Castlewood will also provide a no-host bar with a good selection of single malt, blended whiskies and other adult and non-alcoholic beverages.

Dress code is Scottish casual: Lasses, if you have a wee bit of tartan to add to your outfit, you will fit right in; Men, a kilt and casual shirt is perfect, or pants, if your legs are not up to our exacting standards! Please, no denim to conform with Castlewood dress code. We have both couples and singles of both sexes coming. Non-members are very welcome to come to the ball. This event is not suitable for young children. Anyone 14 and older welcome.
